Patricia R. Sandvik - Obituary

atricia R. Sandvik, 92, a 46-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Forestville, MD, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2021 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, MD. Patricia was born on November 4, 1929 to the late Adrian and Cecil Meek in Frostburg, MD where she was raised and graduated high school. She married George R. Sandvik in 1950 and started their family. In 1956, Patricia began a 31-year federal government career, working first as a secretary at the U.S. Census Bureau in Suitland, MD for 20 years and then transferring to the Navy Yard in Washington, DC. She retired in 1987. Patricia became a fan of soap operas; her favorites were Days of Our Lives and the Young and the Restless. She loved to eat Maryland crabs with her family. Patricia was a loyal reader of The Washington Post and the Capital Gazette and loved to do their crossword puzzles everyday. She also enjoyed taking trips to Hawaii and Las Vegas. Her greatest joy, however, came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her loving husband, George, who passed away in 1993 and her sister, Phyllis Crowe. Patricia is survived by two children, Steven (Dawn) Sandvik and Tina Sandvik, all of Edgewater; three grandsons, Jordan (Shannon), Nicolas and Nathan Sandvik; and a niece Julie Crowe. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Patricia's life on Saturday, December 4, at 2pm at the Kalas Funeral & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater.
