aul Boyce Dickerson, 78, a resident of Heritage Harbor for seven years and previously of Greenbelt, died at the Anne Arundel Medical Center on April 8 of natural causes.
Born Feb. 7, 1932, in Murray, Ky., to Charles W. and Ina Dell Dickerson, he spent his childhood in Kentucky where he graduated from high school.
During the Korean conflict Mr. Dickerson served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in London, England. He was decorated and later honorably discharged.
He served as President/ General Manager of the U.S. Postal Service Federal Credit Union for over 30 years. During that time he also served as a volunteer regional Vice-Chairman of the Credit Union National Association and on the boards of several other credit union organizations. He received the Wright Patman Award for distinguished service to credit unions.
He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Bowie, and enjoyed attending sporting events, playing the piano and spending the winter months in Florida.
Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death in 2003 by his wife of 52 years, Eva (Boettcher) Dickerson, whom he married Oct. 13, 1951.
Survivors include one son, William C. Dickerson (Karen) and two grandsons, Ryan and Garrett of Annapolis; three sisters, Ruth Duncan of Green Valley, Ariz., Anna Mae Johnson of Volin, S.D., and Marilyn Beatty of Gilbert, Ariz.; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Friends are invited to Mr. Dickerson's Life Celebration from 2 to 4 and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 14. Interment is private.
