Paul Duchene - Obituary

aul Albert Duchene, age 86, a nine year resident of Edgewater, MD and formerly of College Park, MD for 50 years died on Sunday, June 6, 2010 at Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood, MD of Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Born on May 24, 1924 in Bridgeport, CT, Paul was a charter member of the National Security Agency (NSA) where he worked as a Logistics Management Specialist for many years. Paul was a member of the University of Maryland Terrapin Club, the United Methodist Church of North College Park, the Masons and the Phoenix Society. He was also a past President of the Hyattsville Lions Club and an illustrator for the Phoenix Society's publication, “The Phoenician”. In his spare time Paul enjoyed music, art, boating and travelling. Paul's wife of 54 years, Barbara Waters Duchene, died on December 8, 2001. He is survived by a son, Robert Duchene of Edgewater, MD; two daughters, Susan Connor of Alexandria, VA and Adriane Harbaugh of San Antonio, TX, he was predeceased by a sister, Gwen Watson, and he is survived by 6 grandchildren. Friends are invited to Paul's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Sunday, June 13 from 2 to 4pm and from 6pm until his funeral service begins at 7pm. Interment Maryland National Memorial Park in Laurel, MD on Monday, June 14 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
