aul Kenneth Miller, 90, a 28-year resident of Edgewater and previously of Beltsville, MD, died on August 31, 2014 at the South River Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born on November 11, 1923 in Washington, DC to the late Thomas and Naomi Miller, Paul served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1945 as an Aviation Electrician’s Mate Third Class and then served in the U.S. Naval Reserves from 1947 to 1952. He worked for the C&P Telephone Company for more than 40 years, retiring in 1985 as a Plant Engineer.
Paul was a member of the Riverdale Baptist Church. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family and friends. He was also an amateur electrician.
Paul was preceded in death by his first wife Kathryn Miller who passed in 1985 and a step-daughter, Joan Collison. He is survived by his loving wife, Doris Higham Miller; one son, Richard K. Miller of Frederick, MD; two daughters, Paula Brown of Tarpon Springs, FL and Donna Gross of High Point, NC; three step-daughters, Anne Kraft and Gail Connaughton of Edgewater and Jeanne McMahon of Bowie, MD; one brother, James R. “Butch” Miller of Edgewater; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Paul’s Life Celebration from 11am until his funeral service begins at 12pm on Monday, September 8 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment will be held at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
