aul “Pop†Edward Newman, 80, a resident of Edgewater, MD since 1954 died at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC on February 8, 2009.
Born January 6, 1929 in Lynchburg, VA, he was a 1947 graduate of Eastern High School in Washington, DC. He attended George Washington University and the University of Maryland. Mr. Newman retired as a production engineer from Harry Diamond Labs in Washington, DC and as Vice President of Southern Maryland Aluminum Products. His hobbies included fishing, travelling, repairing and making quality fishing rods and spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce A. Newman, whom he married in November 1986; father of Paul David Newman of Pasadena, MD, Wesley William Newman of Millersville, MD, Timothy Michael Janezeck of King George, VA, Rusty Ingram of Los Gatos, CA, Teresa Hickman of Los Angeles, CA and the late Janine Newman Lyons, who died in October 2001; brother of Gloria Forbes of Philadelphia, MS; he is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great-granddaughters. He is predeceased by his first wife, Otilia Smith Newman who died in January of 1986.
