Paul T. Root - Obituary

aul Thomas Root, 96, a resident of Edgewater, passed away at his home on Monday, January 17, 2022. Paul was born on January 21, 1925, in Bel Air, MD to the late Paul and Lillian Root. He was a graduate of Annapolis Senior High. Paul served in the US Army in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a hard worker and worked for BGE from 1947-to 1985, starting as a lineman climbing poles and ending his career as a supervisor. He retired so that he could have more time to work in his yard, which he was very proud of, and received many compliments about his flowers and lawn from neighbors. In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Virginia; his daughter, Barbara Ann Barber; his brother, Allen Root and many other relatives. He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Root Lennartz; his six grandchildren, Tommy (Missy) Christensen, Chris (Jola) Barber, Nichole (Donald) McWaters, Heather and Tamiera Brown, and Andrea (Steve) Dale and is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Paul’s life on Friday, February 4 at 1:30 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037.
