Paul was raised in York, Pennsylvania, the son of Lewis and Elsie Reimold Thoman. He had a sister, Inez, a brother Harry and a foster sister, Ruth. He attended York High School, studied to be a machinist, but after Pearl Harbor joined the army, and became a Medic in the 101st Airborne. He was severely wounded in France and medically discharged in 1945.
Paul received a BS in Mechanical Engineering at New Mexico A&M, and worked for the federal government in the Veterans Administration and then for GSA, retiring in 1981.
Paul met Nancy on a blind date. They married in 1953 and moved to Temple Hills, MD in 1954 where they raised three sons. Paul engaged with his sons in every kind of activity. They learned much from their talented dad. The family attended Corkran Memorial United Methodist Church where Paul ‘s many skills were appreciated.
Paul was a loving husband, dad, granddad and great granddad.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, his sons Bruce Edward,(Brenda) Timothy Alan (Jane), and Eric Albert, his grandchildren, Melissa, Rebecca, and Ian, (Leanne) and his two great grandchildren, Elijah Hart and Paul Harvey.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until the start of the memorial service at 11 a.m. at the KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Entombment at Maryland Veteran's Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD in the Columbarium at a later date.
