earl C. Elizabeth Fuell, affectionately known to family as “Babe Pearl” of Fort Washington, MD, departed this life on Monday, October 23, 2017 at Fort Washington Medical Center. She leaves to cherish her memory, 5 children, Karrolyn (Reginald) Zackery, Jolita Samuels, Patrice Samuels, William “PacMan” McIntyre, Betite McIntyre; and a brother William “Chin” McIntyre. She also leaves to cherish her memory eleven grandchildren, seven great grand-children, nephews, and nieces, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. Fuell in 2002 and her son, Joseph N. Samuels IV in 2016. Born in Washington, DC on February 3, 1938 to the late Walden McIntyre and Pearl (Brooks) McIntyre. She attended District of Columbia public schools and graduated from Cardoza High school. She also attended Washington Teacher’s College where she received an Associates degree which led to her working for The United Planning Organization (UPO) as a career counselor. Pearl was an avid reader with a passion for learning. She loved her family and stressed and wanted nothing but the best education for her children. This was a priority in the household, where she believed in structure and no “sassing back”. Her catch phrase well known by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was “Cause, I said so”…. and “I don’t need to give you a reason why, CAUSE I SAID SO” Pearl enjoyed reading romance novels, watching western movies, a robust game of pinochle and family gatherings. She was a serious Dallas Cowboy fan and would give her son-in-law a rough time whenever Dallas Cowboys played the Washington Redskins. Pearl had an especially close relationship with her young daughter, Patrice. They would spend hours shopping, especially during the Christmas season. Pearl would select a different Christmas theme for decorating the home each year. She enjoyed collecting different Crèches and Santa Clauses. Also, Pearl would adopt several angels from a participating Angel Tree program. She and Patrice would make their lists and start shopping. She would spend countless hours shopping for just the right gift and was meticulous about the wrapping of each gift. Each gift was wrapped so beautifully that when giving them out to the recipient, no one wanted to open the gifts because the wrapping was like art work. Pearl was very instrumental in helping Patrice master her craft with baking...“Patty’s Cakes.” Pearl would sample these delectable sweets and make recommendations on how to perfect each one. The trade secret for a Patty’s Cake was not the ingredients but the love of the taster—Pearl. Pearl was very committed to her Catholic faith and was most joyful when her daughter, Jolita entered the Catholic Church in March of this year. She blessed so many of us with her genuine spirit, love and amazing sense of humor and just overall wit. We are blessed to have experienced and loved this classic beauty, Pearl, in our lifetime. Relatives and friends are invited to Pearl's Life Celebration on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 2401 Brinkley Rd., Ft. Washington, MD Interment Quantico National Cemetery at 2 p.m.
