Peggy Britell - Obituary

eggy Sager Britell, 78, passed away peacefully on August 21 surrounded by family. Peggy was born July 28, 1948 in Chillicothe, Illinois to parents Wayne and Elnore Sager. After graduating from Illinois State University, she moved to Washington, D.C. to begin a 40 year career as a civil servant, to include 20+ years with the Bureau of Land Management, 10+ years managing the office of Congressman Arlen Stangland, and traveling to China as part of the historic 1975 U.S.-Chinese Trade Commission. Peggy married Claudius James “Jim” Britell (USNA class of ’60) in 1983. Longtime Annapolis residents, they were proud Naval Academy supporters as well as loving dog parents. Peggy is survived by a brother (Mark), a sister (Phyllis), four step-children (Andrew, Claire, Martine, Timothy) and many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Peggy and Jim will be interned together at a private ceremony in Illinois; there will be no local services. Peggy was a proud “rescue dog” mom, therefore in lieu of flowers, please consider any charitable donations to causes that support animal welfare.
