eter Lloyd Cook, 65, an eight-year resident of Annapolis and formerly of Ft. Washington, died April 28 at the Tate Hospice House after a four-year battle with non-smoker's lung cancer.
He was born Feb. 22, 1944, on Long Island, N.Y. He graduated from Clarkson University in 1966 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and later earned his M.B.A. from American University in 1972.
He was a Deputy Federal Inspector for the Alaskan gas pipeline from 1979 to 1982, the Deputy Director of the E.P.A. Office of Ground and Drinking Water from 1982 to 1996, and the Executive Director of the National Association of Water Companies from 1996 to the present. Peter was Commissioned Core of NOAA (Nat'l. Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration) coast and geodetic survey where he was Lt. JG from 1966 to 1968. His duty posts included the Satellite Center in Suitland and the ship surveyor out of the Pacific Marine Center in Seattle, Wash.
He was a board member of both the Piscataway Hills Community Assn. and the American Water Works Research Foundation. He was an avid music collector and enjoyed woodwork/furniture design, tennis and skiing.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Cook; two daughters, Heather Lutz of Southborough, Mass., and Leah Cook of Crofton; two sisters, Deborah Halpern of Angel Fire, N.M., and Melissa Breen of Zionsville, Ind.; and twin grandsons, Austin and Bassem Lutz.
Friends are invited to Peter's Life Celebration from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, May 3 at George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. Interment is private.
