Peter David Evanoff - Obituary

eter D. Evanoff "Pete", 88, a resident of Lewes, DE and previously of Friendship, MD died on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Fairfax Hospital due to complications following a surgery. Born on December 26, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Phillip and Vera Webb Evanoff, Pete graduated from Girard College Boarding School and then served in the U.S. Army. After serving in the military, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering from Villanova University. Pete retired after a 20-year career with Thiokol/ATK where he was a mechanical engineer. He was a member of St. Edmonds Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach, DE, the Knights of Columbus, the Annapolis Woodworkers, the Mason Dixon Woodworkers and was a former member Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church and the church choir. He enjoyed woodworking and making toys for disadvantaged children. Pete is survived by his wife of forty years, Carmin Jean Evanoff; his children, Tom Evanoff of San Francisco, CA, Julie Evanoff of Brooklyn, NY, Anne Kendig of Shreveport, LA and Cheryl Butler of Manassas, VA; his brother, Phillip Evanoff of Chillicothe, OH; his sisters, Agnes Coan and Neda Yarnall of Albuquerque, NM and Roberta Lindquist of Tucson, AZ; his grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan and Natalie Butler, Ashley Butler-Tudor, Claire Faggons, Ali Young, Tantine Kendig and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Frank Evanoff; his brothers, Paul and Joseph Evanoff and his sister, Margaret Soltis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Friday, November 3 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Rd., West River, MD with inurnment following in the church cemetery.
