P

eter C. Remsen, 79, a fifty-four year resident, of Edgewater, MD and previously of Silver Spring, died on Saturday, July 6 at his home after a lengthy battle with Cancer and Parkinson’s Disease. Born on September 28, 1944, in Montgomery County, to the late Beatrice Elaine Mallory and Peter Remsen, Jr., Pete was a 1962 graduate of Montgomery Blair High School. He served in Vietnam in the U.S. Navy, with the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 53 “Seabees” from 1967 to 1969. After serving his country, Pete spent many years in the commercial construction industry. He was a member of the American Legion Post 226, Fleet Reserve Club, VFW and the Elks. Pete enjoyed boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay, spending time at his beach house in North Topsail Beach, NC, and most of all spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Remsen. Pete is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Remsen; his daughter, Stacey Remsen of Chestertown, MD and his grandsons, Justin and Jacob Lewis. Friends are invited to celebrate Pete's life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Friday, July 12 from 11 am until his funeral service begins at 12 noon.
