hilip “Phil†Carl Wimbish, age 76, a native Baltimorean, died on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Season's Hospice in Baltimore, MD of natural causes. Phil was born in Baltimore on April 4, 1932 to the late Russell and Pauline Wimbish. He graduated from Baltimore City College High School in Baltimore and later studied Civil Engineering at Tri-State College in Angola, Indiana. Phil worked at J.E. Greiner Consulting Engineers in Baltimore where he was a field engineer in the 1960's and 70's. He worked on several road projects in Maryland, most notably he was involved in the construction of the second Bay Bridge span. Later in his life he worked in home improvement construction and sales. Most recently he worked as a desk clerk at his residence building in Baltimore, the Christ Church Harbor Apartments. Phil served with distinction in the US Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed working on wooden boats, sailing, boating and collecting antique clocks. He is survived his former spouse, Nancy Wimbish; two sons, Philip J. and Paul J. Wimbish, both of Annapolis, MD; three grandchildren, Philip J. Wimbish, Jr., Kelsey and Kyle Wimbish, all of Annapolis, MD; a sister, Hope Landon of Tampa, FL. He is predeceased by his brother, Russell Wimbish, Jr. and two sisters, Jean Gregoria and Dorothy “Dot†Mead. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 11:30 AM at The Maryland Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Crownsville, MD. Arrangements by George P. Kalas Funeral Home, Edgewater, MD.
