hyllis Train Fredericks was born November 2, 1925 in Axtell, Kansas. She was the last living granddaughter of pioneer John and Christina Magnusdotter Train and the last living granddaughter of Matilda Katrina Charnstrom. Phyllis's father, August Train was a Lutheran pastor who graduated from Augustana Seminary. He also was the director of the Mariadahl Children's Home.Her mother was Minnie Train.
She grew up on a farm near Lindsborg, Kansas where she graduated from High School in 1943. She then came to Washington, DC where she worked for a real estate company and attended Benjamin Franklin University. She graduated in 1947 with a master's degree in accounting. On June 26, 1948 she married Lloyd Fredericks. They had two children, Jan and Alan Lloyd. She worked there for the Public Health Service but quit to become a full time mother and homemaker. She loved duckpin bowling, playing bridge and helping with her church.
On Saturday, May 22, 2010; the beloved wife of the late Lloyd H. Fredericks; mother of Jan Miller and Alan L. Fredericks; grandmother of Gary, Julie, Melissa, Stephanie, Tiffany and Rachel Fredericks; sister of Mary Ann Covert. Relatives and friends are invited to Phyllis' Life Celebration on Monday, May 31 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD where services will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 1pm. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Gideons International.
