hyllis Lonegro Suhr passed away peacefully on March 13, 2022, at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD. Phyllis was born November 13, 1939, to the late Philip and Edith Lonegro in Baltimore, MD. Growing up in Baltimore, she enjoyed Matthew’s Pizza and summers at the shore with family and friends. She attended Patterson High School before going to the State Teachers College at Towson (now Towson University), where she majored in Education. Upon graduating from Towson, Phyllis earned both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Education from George Washington University. Phyllis pursued her teaching career in the Prince George’s County and Dorchester County school systems. She served as a special education teacher and vocational specialist, completing her career in curriculum development. Phyllis was married to the late Charles Suhr, and was the mother of Philip Greig and the late Bruce Greig. She was also the stepmother of Jeanne Forney, Cindy (Al) Rottini and Tom (Sarah) Suhr. She is also survived by her brother, Thomas (Lois) Lonegro, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Upon retirement, Phyllis and Chuck pursued their love of antiques by establishing Suhrprise Shop Antiques. They were part of large group shops in Annapolis, MD and Shrewsbury, PA and participated in antique shows from Maine to Tennessee. Phyllis was an active member of the Vintage Ladies and the American Antique Arts Association of Annapolis. In addition to her interest in antiques, Phyllis enjoyed many activities with her wide circle of friends. She rarely missed a reunion of her high school or college, and enjoyed regular get-togethers with her cousins. She participated in a games group, a book club, and a garden club with her Anchorage community. Phyllis was a mainstay in her parish at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, participating in many ministries during her decades of membership at the church.
