alph A. Brady, 82, of Edgewater passed away at home of natural causes surrounded by family on Thursday, May 24. Born on August 27, 1929 in Annapolis to the late Ralph J. and Virginia Brady, he graduated St. Mary's High School where he was a member of the school's first varsity football team. Ralph grew up on Revel St. in Annapolis and was a competitive sailor within the Annapolis circuit. He proudly served his country from 1951-1953 during the Korean War for the Army and Navy. Ralph went on to work for the US Naval Academy from 1969 to 2003 where he retired as the facilities manager. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater, was an avid sailor, Baltimore Ravens fan and a devoted family man who loved family trips to Ocean City.
Ralph is preceded in death by a son, Theodore Brady. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Maryellen Brady; two sons, Ralph T. Brady of Edgewater and William Brady of Washington, DC; one daughter Patricia Brady Pettebone of Edgewater; one brother, James E. Brady of Annapolis; one sister, June Edwards of Yahala, FL; one grandson, Brady Pettebone of Edgewater and two granddaughters, Jacquelyn Holman-Brady of Shady Side and Justine Brady of San Diego, CA.
Friends are invited to Ralph's Life Celebration on Wednesday, May 30 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 31 at 10AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater. Interment private.
