Ramon McDonald - Obituary

everend Ramon E. McDonald, Sr. (Rev. Mac), 84, of Annapolis died Tuesday, September 18 after a brief illness. He was born in Clarksburg on July 29, 1928 to the late Rev. Julian E. McDonald, Sr. and the late Hiawatha E. McDonald, née Duvall. Rev. McDonald served the Lord as a pastor in the United Methodist Church locally at Mt. Zion UMC in Lothian, Seat Pleasant (now Gethsemane) UMC in Seat Pleasant, Trinity UMC in Annapolis, and Chevy Chase UMC in Chevy Chase. He was the founder, director and evangelist for REM Christian Ministries, Inc. He was preceded in death by his siblings Julian E. McDonald, Jr., and Elizabeth E. Rowe. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Frances D. McDonald, nèe Thomas whom he met in Moorefield, WV when his father was pastor of Duffy UMC in that town; his daughter, Deana R. (John) Deans; two sons, Rev. Dr. Ramon E. (Carolyn) McDonald II and Timothy E. (Lori) McDonald; his brothers, Wilbur E. McDonald and Franklin E. McDonald; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 21 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. His Life Celebration will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 22 at Mt. Oak Fellowship, 14110 Mt. Oak Road, Mitchellville. Interment private.
