aymond Palmer, 76, a lifelong resident of Woodland Beach in Edgewater, MD, died on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Born on March 27, 1942 in Washington, DC to the late Anthony and Dorothy Reynolds Palmer, Raymond attended St. Mary's School in Annapolis, MD. He served in the U.S. Army with the Mobile Riverine Force stationed in the Mekong Delta during the Vietnam War where he earned numerous medals, including the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal. After serving, he worked as an automobile mechanic and later owned and operated an excavating company. Raymond was a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater, MD and in his spare time enjoyed music and dancing. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Thomas and William Palmer. He is survived by his sisters, Peggy Palmer of Edgewater, MD and Toni Anne Fitzpatrick of Metter, GA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends are invited to celebrate Raymond's life on Wednesday, June 13 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, June 14 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the South County Senior Center, 27 Stepney Ln., Edgewater, MD 21037 and the Woodland Beach VFD, P.O. Box 236, Edgewater, MD 21037.
