Born August 12, 1926 in Washington, DC, she was the beloved wife of the late Lawrence Lapanne; mother of Sidney (Jane) John Sampson, Jr. and Peggy (John, III) Stokes; grandmother of Michael Stokes, Matthew (Megan) Stokes, Melissa Sampson, and Lauren (Glenn) Younes; great-grandmother of David Stokes, Jack Stokes, and Sydney Younes.
