Reinhold Johannes Gerharz - Obituary

einhold Johannes Gerharz was born on August 25, 1957 in Washington, D.C. to Reinhold Gerharz, Sr. and Elisabeth Gerharz. He was the eldest of three children. Reinhold grew up in Bethesda where he completed elementary and secondary education. He came from a family of scientist and educators. In his early teens Reinhold developed a gift and lifelong passion for electronics and computer science. He worked as a systems analyst and programmer for BAE Systems International in Rockville, MD for several years where he met his future beloved wife. Later he worked as an independent IT contractor until his passing. Reinhold and Charlene have been happily married for over 24 years…always together and never apart. Reinhold had a sharp wit and was known for his intellect, sense of humor, and a kind heart. He was a very generous and giving person and would offer help without any hesitation. Reinhold and Charlene enjoyed visiting churches and frequented the National Shrine Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes in Emmitsburg, MD. Reinhold is survived by his loving wife, Charlene Pe Gerharz, sister Rita Gerharz, brother Ralph Gerharz (wife Megumi), nephews, nieces, cousins and many members of the Gerharz and Pe families. Relatives and friends are invited to Reinhold's Life Celebration on Tuesday, August 23, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. until the start of the funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, Maryland 20745. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, kindly send donations to the National Shrine Grotto of our Lady of Lourdes, 16330 Grotto Rd., Emmitsburg, MD 21727.
