enford Aston Linton “Ren,” 92, a resident of Davidsonville, MD, and formerly of Los Angeles, CA; Clermont, FL; and Queen, NY, died of natural causes on Wednesday, September 9th, in Los Angeles. Born September 27th, 1933, in Kingston, Jamaica, to the late Albert Linton and Florence Linton (née) Chambers, Ren was a certified journey steel-welder and fitter who worked on many projects in NY, the Bahamas, and Jamaica, including bridges and high-rise buildings, before starting his own business, Linton Iron Works. Mr. Renford Linton was an ardent member of the Mechanics Fraternal Order from his early years in Jamaica as a member of the Royal York Lodge. Upon migrating to the United States, his membership was transferred to the Mechanics Lodge in Queens, New York. He rose to the highest degree in the Mechanics Order and held several offices at different levels, where he was held in the highest esteem. His last office was that of the Patriarch of the College of Past Grand Masters of the composite Grand Jurisdiction of New York. Ren was an avid gardener and enjoyed cooking. The great entertainer loved to sing, and his storytelling was quite intriguing. He spent his best times with family and friends. His beloved wife, Cats, preceded him to glory after 70 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughters, Marcia Hussey of Davidsonville, MD; Marie Leslie of Los Angeles, CA; and Andrea Plucknett of California; and his sons, Renford Linton, Jr. of New Jersey, and Dave Linton of California. Sons-in-law: Outram J. Hussey, Gilbert Leslie, and Roy Plucknett, who preceded him to glory. Daughter-in-law: Judith Linton of New Jersey. Grandsons: O. Xavier Hussey, Andre Hussey, Ryan Hussey, Daniel Hussey, Geoffery Leslie, Jonathan Linton, Arron Linton, and Ryan Plucknett. Granddaughters: Gabrielle Osborne (née) Leslie, Brittany Linton, Geenah Leslie, Kendra Linton McIntyre, Rachel Plucknett, Alicia Linton, Cheyenne Linton and Tamika Linton. Great-grandchildren: Tristan Hussey, Elizabeth Hussey, Joshua Hussey, Valencia Hussey, Sebastian Hussey, Rumi Hussey, Zoe Osborne, Rylee Osborne, Callie Osborne and Chester Plucknett. Grandson-in-law: John Osborne (Gabrielle). Granddaughters-in-law: Bonnie Jung Hussey (Xavier Hussey), Leslie Prado- Hussey (Ryan Hussey), Jennifer Linton (Jonathan), Kai Plucknett (Ryan Plucknett). Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dearest friends. A true gift from God; his spirit shines through us all. And his soul will live in our hearts forever. Friends are invited to celebrate Renford’s life on Thursday, September 24 from 4 to 7 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, September 25, at 11 am, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
