ichard Stanley Aldrich, 82, a resident of Edgewater, MD for over 11 years and previously of Potomac, MD died on September 18, 2008 at his home of natural causes after a five year illness.
Born February 9, 1926 in Sandusky, OH to the late Florence and Byron F. Aldrich, he received a Masters of Arts Degree from Miami University of Ohio. He was employed as an account executive with educational fundraising. During World War II, he was in the United States Navy as a sonar man, 2nd class in the South Pacific. He was a member of Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis. His hobbies included fishing, gardening and music.
He was the beloved husband of Kathryn B. Aldrich, whom he married June 1, 1946; father of John T. Aldrich of Mesa, AZ, James E. Aldrich of Olney, MD, Amy V. McCarthy of Edgewater, MD and Anne M. Savage of Odenton, MD; brother of John S. Aldrich of Sandusky, OH and Helen Aldrich of Sandusky, OH; also survived by 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at 1:30pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Annapolis, 333 Dubois Road, Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
