ichard H. Ashley, age 79, a 15-year resident of Edgewater, MD and formerly of Bethesda, MD died on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Born March 9, 1930 in Washington D.C., Dick was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and was a principle of Hollyoak, Inc., a building and land developer in the Washington metropolitan area. His interests included woodworking, cabinetry and wooden boat building. Dick also enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing on the Chesapeake Bay. He was a skilled cook, a mentor to other woodworkers in his home shop, and could often be found surrounded by his friends and family at his house on the Bay. He is survived by his wife, Stealey Ashley of Edgewater, MD, who he married in 1978. He is also survived by his daughter, Janet L. Ashley of Rockville, MD, and 6 brothers-in-law, 5 sisters-in-law, 3 nephews and 4 nieces. He was predeceased by his son, Richard R. Ashley, who died in 1980. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
