ichard David Dean II was born in Abilene, Texas (raised in Upper Marlboro, MD) on May 22, 1966 to the union of the late Richard David Dean SR and Vallie Bechem Dean. At an early age Richard made the greatest decision of his life when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. At the time of his passing he was an active Member of the Male Course at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden International. He attended both private and public schools in Washington DC and Prince George’s County. He attended the following colleges and universities : Southwestern Christian College, University of Maryland (College Park), Temple University (Phill. PA), and graduated from Bowie State University with a degree in Business Administration concentrating in Banking and Finance. Richard's career started in the Banking Industry and he later switched to teaching Business Education. He taught at the following schools : Thurgood Marshall Middle School, Potomac High School, Friendly High School, and retired from Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School. Richard loved all sports but he loved Football the best. He started in little league with the Kettering Boys and Girls Club, then he went to Largo Senior High School there he was on the “Largo Lions Football Team” (he just loved “The Largo Lions”). He also played Football in college at the University of Maryland (College Park). Richard received awards and honors for his participation in the Band, Mr. Largo Pageant. Instead of a pageant for a queen, Largo had a competition for a king for the homecoming event and was nominated by one of his teachers to run for “Mr. Largo”. He also won trophies for other sports (Basketball). At Potomac High School, he was the advisor for the FBLA (Future Business Leader of America) an extra curriculum club for Business Education Students. These students competed with others students through the USA and are recognized by the Business Owners and giver preface for jobs. Richard is survived by: Mother, Vallie Bechem Dean, Brother, Clifton Sumner Dean of Upper Marlboro, MD, Mensah Mobali Dean of Philadelphia, PA. Sister, Kassy Golden (Nick) Martinburg, WV. Aunts, Helen Dean Bell (Lonnie) of Tampa, FL; Juanita Dean White, Oakland, CA,; Katie Dean Davis, Sacramento, CA; Carolyn Dean Gains, Stockton, CA,; Lois Stokes; Montgomery, AL; Nattlie Wright, Montgomery, AL and a very Special Cousin, Angelia Truly, Upper Marlboro, MD and a host of cousin. Relatives and friends are invited to Richard's Life Celebration on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 10 A.M. until the start of the service at 11 A.M. at First Baptist Church of Glenarden Ministry Center, 3600 Brightseat Road Landover, MD 20785. Entombment to follow after service at Lakemont Memorial Gardens, 900 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035.
