Richard Dick - Obituary

ichard Thomas Dick, 79, a resident of Fort Washington, MD., died peacefully on February 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family. Born on August 3, 1935 in Claremore, OK. to the late Frank and Sophronia Dick he was the youngest of 10 children. He attended Haskell High School in Lawrence, KS. He joined the United States Air Force in Vinita,OK. at the age of 18 and served from 1954-1963. He retired from the Federal Government, Naval Air Systems Command in 1993. Richard was a member of WhiteHall Baptist church in Accokeek, MD. He enjoyed his family, visiting and cutting-up with friends and shopping for a good bargain. He was proud of his Native American heritage and was a member of the Seneca-Cayugah tribe in Oklahoma. Richard was preceded in death by his grandson Shane Thomas Beale of King George, VA. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Peggy Dick; children: Vickie (Dick) and her husband Eric DeStefano of Waldorf, MD. and Carol (Dick) and her husband Francis Beale of Montross, VA.; grandchildren: Joshua Eric DeStefano, Sean Francis Beale and Jessica Joy DeStefano and 4 great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his only surviving sibling: Letrice "Joy" Philbeck of Tulsa, OK. Friends are invited to Richard's Life Celebration on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, MD from 2:00-4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be held *NOTE CHANGE*, WEDENESDAY February 18, 2015 at Whitehall Baptist church 1205 Farmington Road, East, Accokeek, MD with a visitation from 10:30am until time of services at 11:00am with repast to follow in Whiteman Hall.
