Richard L. Ernstes - Obituary

ichard Lynn Ernstes, affectionately known as "Dick," passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in Glen Burnie, MD. A resident of Odenton, MD for the past 13 years and formerly of Edgewater, MD, Dick was born on September 10, 1946, in Clinton, MO, to the late Freida Hubble and Herman Ernstes. He proudly attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Dick enjoyed a successful career as a real estate agent with Champion Realty and Riley and Associates, following a noteworthy 5-year tenure at Honeywell and 12 years with Chesapeake Yacht Sales. His passions included cheering for the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles, boating, and spending time on the water. Above all, Dick treasured the moments spent with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Stella Ernstes; his daughter Kristen and son in-law Rich Shorter of Crofton, MD; and his two granddaughters, Aubrey and Kennedy Shorter. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dick's life on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 2 to 4 pm and again from 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037 where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 11 am. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
