Richard Hammond - Obituary

ichard "Rich" Charles Hammond, 43, a seven-year resident of Capitol Hill and previously of Annapolis, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 1, at Washington Hospital Center. Born July 8, 1970, in Annapolis, Rich graduated from Anne Arundel Community College and the University of Baltimore with a Bachelor of Science in business. Known by many as “Rich the furniture man", he worked as an Account Executive at PriceModern from 2001-2014. Rich was preceded in death by his father, Richard Barry Hammond. He is survived by his wife, Jessica Lynn Hammond of Washington, DC, whom he married on June 1, 2000 in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; his mother, Sharon Serio and her husband, Kenneth Lyons of Annapolis; a sister and brother-in-law, Elise and Kenny Morris of Edgewater; two nephews, Zach and Justin Morris; one niece, Marissa Morris; an aunt, Janice Huss and uncle, Jeff Atkinson of Arnold. Friends may call on Friday, June 6, 7 -9 p.m. and on Saturday, June 7, 10-11 a.m. with services following at 11 a.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater.
