Obituary for Richard Lee Hott Richard Lee (Dick) Hott, 17-year resident of Heritage Harbour in Annapolis, Md., died December 12 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a long period of declining health. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jacquelyne (Jacky) Hott; his daughter and son-in-law, Karen Hott and Randy Minteer of Grasonville, Md.; and his granddaughter, Kelsey Hott Barthold. His youngest daughter, Jennifer Lee Hott, died of cystic fibrosis in 1977. Born May 10, 1927, to Atlee and Marie Hott, he was raised in Paw Paw, W.Va. His older sister, Margaret Hott Zembower, lives in Cumberland, Md. His younger siblings, Ruth and Charles, both predeceased him in the 1970s. Dick enlisted in World War II at 17 and served in Guam and Bikini Atoll with the 53rd Navy Seabees as a carpenter. Dick and Jacky lived as newlyweds and young parents in Cumberland and Paw Paw before moving to Washington, D.C. They lived on Briggs Chaney Road in Silver Spring, Md., from 1966 to 1998. They also owned a condominium at Sea Colony in Bethany Beach, Del., for 32 years. He worked as a building contractor and as a window sales representative, but always considered himself a carpenter. He leaves a legacy of fine woodworking in his home and with loved ones. With his volunteered help, a church was expanded, homes were perfected, and many, many lives were enriched. Family and friends remember Dick’s ready smile, his steadfast dedication to wife and family, his service to others and his skill as a carpenter. Although he had only one grandchild of his own, he was a beloved uncle and surrogate grandfather to many.
