Richard Lynn “Hutch” Hutchinson, 78, a 27-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Clinton, MD passed away on November 2, 2024 at George Washington University Hospital after an accidental fall. Born on October 26, 1946 in Princeton, WV to the late Hubert and Lavana Hutchinson, he graduated from Anacostia High School in Washington, DC before honorably serving our country as a member of the United States Army from 1965 to 1968, where he served in Vietnam and Ft. Myers, VA. After his service, he established a career in the heavy equipment industry that lasted for over 30 years.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman, and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and travelling in his RV. He was a sports fan, and loved cheering on the Washington Redskins. He was a terrific cook who loved hosting dinners, competing in chili cook-offs, and supplying family and friends with his homemade candy at Christmastime. Most of all, he was a family man who was happiest spending time with his loved ones.
Richard is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Patty Hutchinson; his daughters, Amy Noel Hutchinson of Princeton, WV, Angela Nichole Hutchinson of Princeton, WV, and Erin Lynn Riordan of Edgewater, MD; his siblings, James Hutchinson and Bonnie Halford of Princeton, WV; and his grandchildren, Matthew and Rachel Phillips, Jacob and Grace Hutchinson, and Jack and Luke Riordan.

Per his wishes, friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Richard’s life on Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 5:30 to 8:00 pm at The Crab Shack, 3111 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD.
