ichard William "Dick" Jones, a lifelong Maryland resident, passed away peacefully at home in Edgewater, Maryland, on April 27, 2026, at the age of 83, with his beloved wife, Cathy, and son, Michael, by his side. Born on November 16, 1942, Richard was known to family as Richard and to his friends simply as Dick. He spent his entire life in Maryland, building deep roots in the communities he loved. Dick attended Howard Park Elementary School and Garrison Junior High School before graduating from Milford Mill High School in 1960. He continued his education at the University of Maryland and later graduated from Johns Hopkins University with Bachelor of Science degrees in both Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. While he did not talk about it, Dick proudly served his state and country as a member of the Maryland National Guard. Throughout his professional life, he was known for his entrepreneurial spirit, leadership, outstanding salesmanship and dedication. He founded and owned Riverside Components from 1989 to 2000 and later founded and helped lead IACI from 2003 to 2012, leaving a lasting impact through his hard work and vision. A devoted member of St. Martins Lutheran Church, Dick's faith was an important part of his life. Outside of work, he found great joy on the waters of the Chesapeake Bay and on the golf course, where his love of boating and golf brought him many treasured memories and friendships. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Lenoard and Doris of Baltimore County and later by his brother David of Carroll County, who passed away on October 30th, 2022. He is survived by his wife Cathy, son Michael and daughter-in-law Jennifer and his granddaughter Rebecca. Above all, Dick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and family man. He shared 60 plus loving years of marriage with his cherished wife, Catherine "Cathy", a partnership built on love, commitment, and countless shared memories. Richard William "Dick" Jones will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, generous spirit, and deep love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who both knew and loved him. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dick's life on Sunday May 17 from 2 to 4 PM and from 6 to 8 PM at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory: 2973 Solomons Island Road Edgewater, MD 21037. A memorial service will be held on Monday, May 18 at 11 AM at St. Martins Lutheran Church: 1120 Spa Road Annapolis, MD 21403. Inurnment will immediately follow in the columbarium. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made out to WBAL Kid's Campaign or St. Martins Memorial Foundation.
