Richard Merrick Norman - Obituary

ichard "Dickie" Merrick Norman, 53, a resident of Churchton for over 30 years, died July 8 at his home. Born June 10, 1957, in Annapolis, to Margaret McFadden of Huntsville, Ala. and the late Robert T. Norman, he attended St. Mary's Grammar School and was a 1975 graduate of Annapolis High School. He also completed one year at Delaware Technical School. Dickie was a skilled carpenter and stone mason. He operated his own business, Norman Masonry. He was a member of South County Deale Moose Lodge 2279 in Shady Side. Richard loved camping, animals and the Washington Redskins. He traveled through Europe in the late 70's. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Jane Norman and Grace M. Williams. Richard is survived by his wife, Melissa Andrews, whom he married in 1984; his daughters, Patricia Grace of Riva, MD, Amanda Andrews, Nicolette Merrick and Pamela Margeret, all of Churchton, MD; his brothers, Robert M. Norman of Lewiston, CA, William M. Norman of Crownsville, MD, John H. Norman of Annapolis, MD, C. Michael Norman of Crownsville, MD and David M. Norman of Hinton, VA; his sisters, Mary Elizabeth Colby of Crofton, MD, Carole A. Hawthorne of Davie, FL, Patricia D. Norman of Lawrence, KS, Theresa N. Langford of Grasonville, MD and Beverly N. Soteros of Lawrence, KS and one granddaughter, Olivia Clover. Friends are invited to Dickie's Life Celebration from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 101 Owensville Road, West River, MD 20778. Interment church cemetery.
