Richard Rock - Obituary

ichard Allen Rock “Dicky”, 81, a resident of Hellam, PA, and previously of Berwyn Heights, MD, passed away on August 2, 2020. Born on June 23, 1939, in Washington, DC to the late Wilbur O. and Margaret A. Deam Rock, Dicky was a 1957 graduate of High Point High School in Beltsville, MD. Dicky’s employment included working as a salesman for Home Beneficial Life Insurance Co., Economy Tree Service, Acme Lawncare, Harvey Dairy, and ran his own produce stand. Dicky enjoyed playing the lottery, going to the racetrack, bowling, the beach, cars, track and field, football, basketball, baseball, Hershey Park, mini-golf, snacks, the news, The Voice, J. Lo, Simon Cowell, Donald Trump, TOM BRADY and women! Nonetheless, he especially loved his daughters and his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wives, Dorothy Marie Rock and Sharon Lee McClanahan and his nephew, Bobby Rock. Dicky is survived by his daughters, Pamela Jean Layman of Annapolis, MD and Heather Justine Crapper of Hellem, PA; his brother, Jim Rock of Greenbelt, MD; his grandchildren, Buddy, Tony, Brandon, Brittney, Justise, Tre, Dominick, and Raven; his great-grandchildren, Brooke, Bentley, Brennan, and Cash; his nephew, Ricky Rock and his lifelong best friend, Jesse Davis. Friends and loved ones are invited to celebrate Dicky’s life on Thursday, August 6 at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD from 1:00 pm until his funeral service begins at 2:00 pm.
