Richard Ruckstuhl - Obituary

ichard “Rick” Harper Ruckstuhl, Jr., 59, a 25-year resident of Riva, MD died on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House of cancer after a 7 month illness. Rick was born on September 11, 1952 in Martins Ferry, OH, he was a 1969 graduate of Northwood High School, where he was voted “best dancer”. He was a Sgt. In the United States Marine Corps. Rick was employed as an account manager at Oracle. Richard was a baseball and lacrosse coach with Davidsonville Athletic Association. He enjoyed running, traveling, dancing, music and he cherished his time with family and friends. Rick was also a sports fanatic and was a season ticket holder for the Washington Redskins and Baltimore Orioles. Richard was predeceased by his mother, Bertha Birnbaum. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Ruckstuhl, whom he married on June 17, 1978; his children, Jonathan Ruckstuhl and Alison Klug, both of Annapolis; two brothers, Mike Ruckstuhl of San Antonio, TX and Mark Ruckstuhl of Reston, VA; his father, Phil Birnbaum of Reston, VA; also survived by one granddaughter, Grace Ruckstuhl of Annapolis. Friends are invited to Rick’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Thursday, July 21 from 4 to 6pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 6pm. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
