ichard Bryan “Rick” Speiden, 51, a resident of Maryland, passed away on September 29, 2016 at his home. Born on October 11, 1964 to Joan and the late Ronnie Speiden, Rick graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. He served in the U.S. Army as a fire support specialist. Rick made his career as a plumber, working for Spadaro Plumbing and Heating for over 15 years. He lived for a period of time in Myrtle Beach, SC where he became a member of the American Legion. An avid Redskins fan, Rick also enjoyed music; he played acoustic guitar and sang with the DNR Band. Rick’s favorite annual event was participating in the Polar Bear Plunge to support Special Olympics.
In addition to his mother, Rick is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Kathy Speiden; stepson, Teddy Ciafardini of Baltimore; two sisters, Shelly Pesato of Myrtle Beach, SC and Sheila Speiden-Guantt of Westville, IN, and his faithful companion, P.I.T.A. Friends are invited to celebrate Rick’s life on Monday, October 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 5 until his funeral service begins at 7 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Interment private.
