Richard Aloysius Wandres - Obituary

ichard “Dick” Aloysius Wandres, Sr., 89, a 48-year resident of Wheaton, MD died on August 26, 2009 at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood, MD. Born February 29, 1920 in New York City, NY; he graduated from Fordham Preparatory School and Officer Candidate School. He was employed as a salesman at various clothing stores (Raleigh's, Bloomingdales, Lewis & Thomas Saltz, Neimann Marcus, etc.), selling primarily men's suits. He was a 1st Lt. in the United States Army during WWII. His hobbies included tennis and swimming. He was the husband of the late E. Terry Wandres; father of Nancy M. Coomer, Richard A., Jr. and Thomas J. Wandres. Also survived by seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter. Service and interment will be held on Tuesday, October 6 at 11am at the Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Assn., 1850 York Rd., Ste. D, Timonium, MD 21093.
