ichard “Rick” Westfield was born as an identical twin on July 4, 1951 in Washington, DC to the late Gus & Sarah Westfield. He was called home on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at Holy Cross Hospital after a brief illness. Rick received his education from Washington, DC Public Schools. After graduation he was drafted in the U.S. Army and served his country for 2 years. He received an Honorable discharge and began his career with the U.S. Government Printing Office in Washington, DC. While working at the Printing Office he met Nancy Lighty in 1978. In 1987 they were joined in Holy Matrimony. He resign from the U.S. Government Printing Office and after taking a few years off, he re-entered the workforce and served as a bus driver for Prince Georges County School System for 17 years. He admired the students from his regular route how they respected him and always called him “Mr. Rick”. It was rewarding for him to get up in the morning and look forward to driving his school bus with the biggest smile as if he was one of the students. He also enjoyed playing Bid Wisk with his coworkers during break time. He was a strong, passionate, loving, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Uncle. He was known for his sense of humor and would always make you laugh. He loved nothing better than family gathering and spending time with family and friends. Rick was a “Die-Hard” Washington Redskin’s fan. He loved a good debate right or wrong. He was known for defending his point of view to the end! In his spare time he enjoyed going to the racetrack with his Twin Brother William. He leaves to cherish his fond memories a beloved wife Nancy Westfield, One Sister; Gladys Reed of DC, Four Brothers; Gus Westfield of SC; Bobby Foggie of SC; Charles Westfield of DC; His beloved “Twin Brother” William Westfield of MD. Three Sister In-laws; Maggie Westfield; Catherine Foggie; Gerturde Fears; Two Daughters; Stephanie Minor of MD (Theodore Sr.); Kishia Lynch of NC (Lafeyette); Two Sons; Kenneth and Tyshard. Three Step-Sons; George, Randy and Anthony. Four Granddaughters; Vicky, Aniya, Makayla and Taylor. Three Grandsons; Theodore Jr., Randy Jr. and Joshua and a host of loving Nieces, Nephews Family and Friends. Family and friends are invited to Richard's Life Celebration on Friday, March 28 from 11:00am until service time at 12:00pm at GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD. Interment Harmony Memorial Park, Landover, MD.
