ita Marie Fletcher Howlin, 94, of Edgewater, Maryland, died peacefully in her sleep after a short illness, at her home in Lock Haven.
She was born on October 28, 1921 in Washington D.C., to the late Archie and Marie Shea Fletcher. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church for over 60 years and was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Mayo and American Legion Post 226. She enjoyed travelling with her sisters and loved to have her grandchildren in her back yard pool.
In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Howlin, Sr. and her son, Joseph R. Howlin, Jr.
Rita is survived by her sister, Maureen Lebling, her daughters; Sheila Marie Messineo and her husband Frank , Carole Ann Fox and her husband Edward, daughter-in-law Sharon Rae Howlin, her grandchildren; Robin Wright, Deborah Shaw, Vivian Ellis, Joseph R. Howlin, III (Bobby), Frank Messineo, Jr., Lt. Col. Christopher Messineo, Kelly Heimbuch and Amanda Gainey. Also survived by 25 great- grandchildren and four great- great grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 12pm at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road, Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment private.
