Rita Rucky - Obituary

ita D. Rucky, 65, a 28-year resident of Mitchellville died on August 4, 2012 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after battling a lengthy illness. Born November 3, 1946 in Washington, DC, she received her bachelor degree from University of Maryland. Rita was employed as a Computer Specialist; specializing in database manipulation. She was very active in the Southern Comforters Quilt Guild in Bowie and the Community Quilt Group. Rita enjoyed quilting, taking care of her cat, Riley, playing Bejeweled, attending craft shows, making her daughter gluten-free brownies and cookies and spending time with her grandpets. She was predeceased by one brother, Mike. Rita is survived by her husband of 28 years, Frank Rucky; a daughter, Katie Bowen and her husband, Tim of Bowie; her siblings, Paul, Betty Jane, Dorothy and Kathleen; and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to Rita's Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Wednesday, August 8 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10AM on Thursday, August 9 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd., Edgewater. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Cemetery.
