Ritchie H. Brady - Obituary

Ritchie Herbert Brady, 91, a resident of Annapolis for sixty-five years and also of Summerfield, FL, died on Saturday, March 19 in Annapolis, MD due to complications associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on November 15, 1930 in Dunkirk, MD to the late Herbert and Mabel Leitch Brady, Ritchie graduated from Annapolis High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Army, Maryland National Guard for twenty years. He also worked in customer service with the Baltimore Gas & Electric Company for many years. Ritchie was a member of the Annapolis Elks, Summerfield Moose Lodge, Galilee Lutheran Church of Chester, MD and Trinity Lutheran Church of Summerfield. He enjoyed camping, traveling, going to the beach, boating, horse racing, playing cards, golfing, bowling and singing karaoke. Ritchie loved classic country music, reading the newspaper from front to back, fast pitch softball and crabbing. He taught all three of his children how to trot line. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Lois Cynthia Brady; his children, Steven Ritchie Brady of Stevensville, MD, Laura Lynn Wicklund of Annapolis, MD and Wendy Leigh Clark of Grasonville, MD; his grandchildren, Brian Farrington of Edgewater, MD, Katie Wicklund of Silver Spring, MD, Kristin Widmer of San Antonio, TX and Samantha Wicklund of Jacksonville, FL and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sister, Hazel Athey and nine other half brothers and sisters. Friends are invited to celebrate Ritchie’s life on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD where his funeral service will be held on Friday, March 25 at 11 am. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Annapolis, MD.
