t is with great sadness that the family of Robert John Dempsey announce his passing on May 15,2021 Bob as he was known by his friends and family held many titles throughout his journey. Bob was a son, brother, husband, father, pop pop, senior chief, and friend he wore each proudly. Robert John Dempsey was born in Palmerton Pennsylvania on July 26,1951 to the late John and Phyllis Dempsey. Bob was the oldest of three children. During his younger years he was alter boy in his church and was a volunteer firefighter at the local fire station. Bob graduated high school in 1969, and he enlisted in the US Navy in 1971. After completion of basic training Bob was stationed in Rota Spain on the Naval Base. It was during this time he met and married his wife of 47 years Maria Carmen Roman Rebollo on December 14th, 1974. During their many years of marriage they had 2 daughters Elizabeth Marie (Butler) and Sonia Ann (Dempsey). Bob’s Navy career eventually brought him to Maryland where he made his home while he was stationed in Washington DC at the White House in the Staff Mess. Bob served under many Presidents during his time there such as Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, George H Bush, and Bill Clinton. Bob traveled around the world accompanying the President on Air Force One. Bob retired from the Navy on September 5th, 1995 where he earned the rank of Senior Chief. Bob liked to spend his evenings at Sunnybrook a local bar in Fort Washington He was a loyal patron for many years. Upon his retirement from the Navy, he eventually started working at Sunnybrook and ran the deli. Sunnybrook was his second home and considered everyone there his family. Bob was a huge football fan one of his favorite things to do on Sundays was watch football he was a die hard Pittsburg Steelers fan. This was something he had in common with his son in law Mike. When Mike married his daughter Elizabeth, he added two more grandchildren to the bunch. Bob was a man a few words, but he loved his family especially his grandchildren, nothing made him happier than celebrating their accomplishments. His proudest moments were watching them walk across the stage at graduation. Bob leaves behind his grandsons Tonio, Nico, Dlano, Leonard (Lj) and Mike jr. His granddaughters Omani, Tiana, and Nekeya. His daughters Elizabeth and Sonia. His son-in-laws Mike (Butler) and Leonard (Kornegay) .His wife Maria, his sister Jane Schweibinz, His brother John Dempsey and all his nieces, nephews and family.
