obert J. Flynn, 83, a retired Administrative Law Judge, died after a long illness on June 15, 2016, at Annapolis, Maryland. Mr. Flynn had lived in Prince George’s and Anne Arundel Counties, Maryland since 1959. He was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, graduated from Xavier High School in Manhattan; Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts; and Georgetown University Law School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after college and attained a fluency in German after attending the Army Language School in Monterey, CA. He then served as an Army Counter Intelligence Agent in Munich, Germany from 1956 to 1958. Mr. Flynn taught Civics, American History, and German at Gonzaga High School while attending Law School. He served as law clerk to the Assistant Attorney General of the U.S. Department of Justice, practiced law and was later appointed as an Administrative Law Judge and served in that capacity until his retirement. Mr. Flynn was active in community service. He chaired or served on many municipal and county civic organizations, including Prince George’s County Council of PTA’s and Eleanor Roosevelt High School PTA; City of Greenbelt Crime Prevention Committee; was active in Maryland politics serving on various political committees and as President of the Prince George’s County Young Democrats; Counsel to the Prince George’s County Senate Delegation and the County Board of Appeals. In retirement, he served as legal officer for the Army Counter Intelligence Corp Veterans. Survivors include his wife, Dolores (Dee) Allison; a sister, Patricia Flynn of Ridgewood, NJ; four children, Dr. Daniel Flynn of Boca Raton, FL; Robert H. Flynn of Exeter, NH; Jane Dorsey Hewson and Mary E.(Libby) White of Ormond Beach, FL, six grandsons, two granddaughters, two great grandsons and a great granddaughter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9 am on Friday, August 19 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD. Interment will be private.
