Robert Myron Gilbert - Obituary

obert Myron Gilbert, age 97, a 31-year resident of Annapolis and formerly of Baltimore, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, at Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes. Born December 19, 1928, in Brooklyn, New York, Robert was a graduate of Long Island University. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Robert spent his professional career as a pharmaceutical salesman with the Upjohn Company. Beyond his work, he was especially devoted to his family, his friends, his church, and the many organizations in which he was involved. He served as Scoutmaster of Troop 846 in Baltimore, where he had the opportunity to mentor and guide young people. Music and the performing arts were also an important part of Robert's life. He was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Annapolis, where he participated in the Chancel Choir. He was also an active member of the Heritage Harbour Chorus and Drama Club. Through these groups, Robert enjoyed performing, making friends, and sharing his love of music and the arts with others. His enthusiasm and involvement brought him many lasting friendships and wonderful memories. Robert is survived by his son, Gregory S. Gilbert of Centreville, Maryland; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Helen, and his cherished son, Richard. Robert's greatest legacy will be the family he loved and the many lives he touched through his service, friendship, and generosity. A memorial service celebrating Robert's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1300 West Street, Annapolis, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Harbour Chorus PO Box 6306, Annapolis Md, 21401 or Trinity United Methodist Church.
