Robert Krueger - Obituary

n Saturday, August 6, 2011, Robert F. Krueger of Annapolis, MD, the beloved husband for 35 years to Janet L. Krueger, died peacefully at his home after a lengthy illness. Born February 3, 1934 in Burlington, WI to the late George W. and Agnes M. Krueger, Robert was a 1957 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. He attended Nike Missile School at Ft. Bliss, TX and Army Flight School at Camp Gary, TX and Ft. Rucker, AL. From 1960 to 1961, he served in South Korea with the 19th Artillery Battalion, flying L-19 airplanes and working as a supply officer. After returning to civilian life, he settled briefly in Greeley, CO while taking graduate classes. In 1964, Robert began his career as an engineer with Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation in Spokane, WA. He spent the following year at the Kaiser Aluminum Works in Koblenz, Germany, training German engineers the “Kaiser Way”. During that year, he was fortunate to be able to visit much of Europe. Robert continued working for Kaiser for 32 years, eventually settling into his last assignment in Annapolis, MD where he retired in 1996. Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean A. Krueger in 1975 and a brother. In addition to his wife, Janet, Robert is survived by their children, Kathy A. Krueger, of Manhattan, NY, Robert J. Krueger of Durango, CO, Jane S. Metz, of Lonaconing, MD and Paul M. Krueger of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He is also survived by five grandchildren, two sisters and extended family. Friends are invited to Robert’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Friday, August 12, from 2:00 PM until a Memorial Service begins at 3:00 PM. Interment private.
