obert D. McClure “Bob”, 75, a 3-year resident of Annapolis, MD and formerly of Mt. Laurel, NJ, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 of natural causes at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Bob was born on July 1, 1935 in Morgantown, WV. He received an Associates degree in Aeronautical Engineering from West Virginia University and a BS degree in Education from Northeastern State University in Oklahoma. A disabled veteran, Bob was a SP-3, combat medic during the Korean War, receiving medals for his rifle expertise, good conduct and serving in the Korean Theater. He retired from Lockheed Martin in Moorestown, NJ where he had a successful career as a senior software engineer. He enjoyed flying and was an instrument-rated private pilot. He also enjoyed horseback riding. Bob was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Knights of Columbus where he was a Fourth Degree Knight.
Bob is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sandra McClure; three sons, Robert S. McClure of Bastrop, TX, Phillip D. McClure of Harrisville, RI and Ken W. McClure of Acworth, GA; two daughters, Phyllis Jo McClure of Bastrop, TX and Sheila M. Thornton of Atco, NJ and one brother, Thomas Rascon of Roanoke, VA. Also survived by five grandchildren, Ryan and Stephanie McClure of Bedford, TX, Heather McClure of Harrisville, RI and Madisyn and Shelby Thornton of Atco, NJ.
Friends are invited to Bob’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD 21037 on Monday, December 20, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 620 North Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.
