Robert Mimms - Obituary

obert L. Mimms, age 80, a fifty five year resident of Annapolis, MD died on Monday, August 4, 2008 in Arnold, MD after a one year battle with lung cancer. Mr. Mimms was born on February 7, 1928 in Baltimore, MD. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II aboard the USS Leyte. He was also a policeman with Anne Arundel County for many years before retiring in 1980. Mr. Mimms was a member of the Marine Corps League and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a world class woodcarver and an all around craftsman. Mr. Mimms was the beloved husband of Rosemary Mimms; father of Bonnie Jarrell of Preston, MD, Robin Mimms of Annapolis, MD, Dudley Mimms of Greensboro, MD, Joseph Mimms of Hillsboro, MD and Christopher Mimms of North Carolina; brother of Dorothy Henning of Cape St. Claire, MD. Also survived by nine grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Robert's Life Celebration at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. where services will be held on Thursday, August 7 at 9:30 A.M. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Crownsville, MD.
