obert “Bobby†Bruce Ratliff, 50, a 10-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Dunkirk, MD died at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood, MD on November 23, 2009 of Hurthle Cell Thyroid Cancer after a 5-year illness.
Born May 15, 1959 in Washington, D.C., he attended Frederick Sasscer Junior High School in Upper Marlboro, MD and was a 1977 graduate of Largo Senior High School. He worked for Safeway for 27-years as a retail clerk, as well as for Lowery's Trucking and as a cable slicer for Verizon. Mr. Ratliff was a loving husband and father who fought courageously to be with his family for the last 50-years of his illness. He was an active member of Divine Peace Lutheran Church in Largo, MD for 40-years. Robert was an avid outdoorsman who loved golfing, fishing and hunting. He was a certified hunter safety instructor for the 12th precinct pistol club in Harwood, MD.
He is survived by his wife, Karyn Ann Ratliff, whom he married on March 31, 2001; 3 children, Seth Allen Ratliff of Edgewater, MD, Leigha Neubert of Norfolk, VA and Jesse Ratliff of Pasadena, MD; 2 brothers, Larry Ratliff of Fredericksburg, VA and Jimmy Ratliff of Brandywine, MD. He is also survived by his parents, Thomas and Vivian Jean Ratliff of Indian Head, MD.
