Robert C. Schaefer - Obituary

obert Conrad Schaefer, 78, of Friendship, MD, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2018. He was the loving husband of Betty Lee (Nash) Schaefer. Together they shared 55 years of marriage. He was born October 6, 1939 in English Consul, Baltimore County, MD, the son of the late Robert Conrad and Cora Elizabeth (Molesworth) Schaefer. Robert graduated from Catonsville High School and served in the Army stationed in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Robert worked as a refrigeration and HVAC technician for Montgomery Ward and the National Security Agency. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Calvert County. He admired classic cars from the years 1957 through 1963, especially convertibles. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to hymns, gospel and country music, travelling to all 50 states and mowing and gardening his property. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Karen and husband, Bill Dickerson of Annapolis, MD, Jean Schaefer of Friendship, MD, brothers, Norman Schaefer of Baltimore, MD and J. David Schaefer of Hanover, PA, and grandsons, Ryan and Garrett Dickerson of Annapolis, MD. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Lorenz Schaefer. Friends are invited to celebrate Robert's life at the First Baptist Church of Calvert County, 155 German Chapel Rd., Prince Frederick, MD on Thursday, August 23 from 10 am until his funeral service begins at 11 am.
