obert “Bob” Fredrick Sumrall, Jr., 58, a 24-year resident of Annapolis, MD died on December 14, 2010 at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness.
Born July 6, 1952 in Newport News, VA, he graduated from Newport News High School. Bob was employed at Berliner Construction in Annapolis, MD as a Project Manager since 1983, where he managed the construction of many local businesses, homes and historic restoration projects. While employed with Berliner, Bob managed the renovation of the former Circle Theater in Historic Annapolis located on State Circle. He considered this to be one of his favorite projects. His hobbies included boating, deep sea fishing, Chesapeake Bay fishing, trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, riding his Harley Davidson, photography, woodworking, history, astronomy and reading.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie Sumrall, whom he married in 1980; his daughter, Rachelle Sumrall; his father and stepmother, Robert Fredrick Sumrall, Sr. and Ann D. Sumrall of Annapolis, MD; his mother, Ellen Bunnell of York, PA; and his brother, David Sumrall of Annapolis MD.
Friends are invited to Bob’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Monday, December 20 from 7 to 9pm, where services will be held on Tuesday, December 21 at 11am. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis MD 21401.
