Robert Vass - Obituary

obert F. Vass, 89, a resident of Warrenton, VA for the past 3 years and previously of Annapolis, MD for 20 years and of Forestville, MD for 25 years died on July 30, 2008 at Fairfax Hospital of congestive heart failure. Born June 27, 1919 in Washington, D.C., he served in the Army Air Corp during WWII and the Air Force during the Korean War. He retired as a Supervisory Systems Analyst for the Federal Government in 1978 after 38 years of service. He loved flying airplanes, playing golf, watching old movies and was an avid Redskins fan. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine C. Vass, who died on March 27, 2008, they were married on 6/17/50. Father of Robert S. Vass of Accokeek, MD, John T. Vass of Sacramento, CA, Michael J. Vass of Centreville, VA, Paul A. Vass of Woodbine, MD, Joseph P. Vass of Stafford, VA, Christopher F. Vass of Chesapeake Beach, MD, Theresa C. Montgomery of Tracys Landing, MD, Catherine E. Vass of Tracys Landing, MD, Margaret M. Conte of Warrenton, VA and Ann M. Vass of Lusby, MD. Brother of Mary Agnes Yake of Springfield, OH, Elizabeth Scorsune of Frederick, MD, Rita Adams of Solomons Island, MD, Alice Viverette of Selbyville, DE and the late Ellen Meyer . Also survived by 25 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren Friends are invited to Robert's Life Celebration on Sunday, August 3 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday, August 4 at 11am at Mt. Calvary Catholic Church, 6700 Marlboro Pike, Forestville, Maryland. Interment Friday, August 8 at 1pm at Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, MD.
