Robert Wilkinson - Obituary

ILKINSON, ROBERT JOSEPH, 78, of Brooklyn Park, MD, died on May 17, 2014. Born February 13, 1936 in Philadelphia to the late Robert L. and Catherine D. Wilkinson, he graduated from Villanova University and was an Electrical Engineer 27 years with NASA, retiring in 1989. He loved reading, dining out, traveling, camping, boating and miniature trains. Robert is survived by his daughters, Susan Requa and Sharon Barnes of MD, and Sunday Williamson and Jennifer Whipkey of VA; his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Allen Detwiler of FL; his nephew, Leyshon Wilkinson of NC; his stepdaughter, Andrea Martinec of MD; his stepson, Mike Roberts of VA; 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and numerous beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen Wilkinson; his second wife, Nancy Wilkinson; and his stepson, John Roberts. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 1:00-2:00pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd, Edgewater, MD, where the Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
